Hello again friends! Did you survive the start of Daylight Savings Time? (My kids wake me up early no matter what the clock says, so honestly it never makes a difference in this house!) I’m excited to be back today to share a gorgeous new collection in the latest release from Spellbinders – the Copperplate Everyday Sentiments Collection by Paul Antonio (check out the rest of the March Release here…so much good stuff this month!). This collection contains six stunning oversized sentiment plates masterfully drawn by Paul Antonio and perfect for using as an eye-catching focal point on cards for all occasions.
FLORAL THANK YOU CARD
For all of these cards, I wanted to keep the focus on the gorgeous sentiments, so in most cases I just pressed the designs onto BetterPress Cotton Cardstock and added small touches to accent them. Here I started by pressing the Thank You Press Plate in BetterPress Black Ink, cut it out using one of the Essential Floral Reflection Dies, and added some Wilted Violet and Shaded Lilac Distress Ink to the bottom portion to add a little interest.
The background was created by pressing the Pressed Bouquet Plate onto Royal Amethyst Cardstock twice using BetterPress Black Ink. Once adhered to a top-folding A2-sized white card base, I popped the sentiment panel up on top with foam adhesive and added a few small flowers from the Be Bold Blooms Die Set to embellish.
DAINTY FLORAL HELLO CARD
Next I pressed the beautiful Hello Press Plate onto BetterPress Cotton Cardstock using BetterPress Hydrangea Ink and cut it out with one of the Essential Stylish Oval Dies. To keep this card bright and pretty, I decided to add lots of white space and cut white cardstock using the Infinity Punch & Pierce Die.
To match the blue sentiment, I inked the bottom of the die cut background with Salty Ocean and Tumbled Glass Distress Ink before adhering it to a top-folding A2-sized white card base. I popped the sentiment panel up in the center of the card with foam adhesive and added some tiny flowers cut with the Mini Blooms & Sprigs Die Set.
FOILED MISS YOU CARD
And don’t forget you can foil any of these beautiful BetterPress plates! Here I applied Aura Hot Foil to white cardstock using the Miss You Press Plate, then added it to the center of a top-folding A2-sized white card base. Then I die cut the center out of a piece of Wild Berry Cardstock using one of the Mirrored Arches Dies before embossing it with the Beautiful Butterflies 3D Embossing Folder.
After rubbing a gold metallic ink pad over the raised areas of the embossed panel, I adhered it to the card front with foam adhesive. To finish off the card, I added two bunches of flowers to the corners cut from Peach Sorbet and Forest Cardstock using the Vintage Florals Die Set.
THINKING OF YOU CARD
I decided to go monochromatic with this next card. After inking up the Thinking Of You Press Plate with BetterPress Cosmic Sky Ink, I pressed it onto cotton cardstock and cut it out with one of the Notched Corner Frame Dies.
The background was created by pressing Glacier Cardstock using the Floral View Press Plate with more BetterPress Cosmic Sky Ink. After matting it with Cosmic Sky Cardstock, I wrapped a little Satin Dark Blue Ribbon around the center and adhered it to my card base. To finish off the card, I popped the sentiment panel up in middle of my card front with foam adhesive.
SWEET HAPPY BIRTHDAY CARD
When I have large BetterPress designs to press, I love using several shades of ink to create blends or ombré looks. Here I inked up the Happy Birthday Press Plate with Azalea, Strawberry, and Mulberry BetterPress Inks before pressing it onto cotton cardstock and adhering it to a top-folding A2-sized white card base.
I cut a window in some Dahlia Cardstock using one of the Essential Arches Dies and embossed the panel with the Diamond Plaid Embossing Folder before popping it up on the card front with foam adhesive. To finish off the card, I cut a cute cupcake, present, and balloon using the Birthday Wreath Add-Ons Die Set and popped them in the corner with more foam adhesive.
CLEAN & SIMPLE CONGRATULATIONS CARD
Lastly, since the Congratulations Press Plate takes up nearly an entire card front, I decided to leave this one clean and simple. I started by pressing the design onto cotton cardstock using BetterPress Black Ink and then blended Squeezed Lemonade and Mustard Seed Distress Ink up from the bottom of the panel.
After trimming it down to 4″ x 5.25″, I matted it with Onyx Cardstock and adhered it to a top-folding A2-sized white card base with tape tunner. Then I just added a couple of Crystal Mix Gems to embellish.
