Country Sunset Scene Card

As the days get longer this time of the year, one of my family’s favorite things to do is take a ride in the country after dinner.  There’s one particular route we enjoy that travels past tons of open farmland, and on that route is a one-lane bridge that doglegs over a tiny brook surrounded by blue wildflowers.

For the longest time, there were a couple of old stone houses around the brook that had been abandoned and crumbled a bit over the years, but last year a new family began to fix one up while building a beautiful natural wood barn on the open field across from it.  Inspired by one of my recent sunset rides, I crafted this country scene card using lots of gorgeous Rubbernecker stamps and dies.

FLORAL STAMPED IMAGE

WOODGRAIN FRAME

  •  Trim a piece of light grey cardstock to 4.125″ x 5.375″.
  •  Lay the Wood Fence Background Stamp face up on your work surface, apply Chill Ink (Color Fuse Set #12) to it, and press the grey cardstock panel on top, running your fingers over the entire stamp to transfer the image evenly.
  •  Die cut the center out of the panel using the second largest die in the Nested Scallop With Holes Die Set.

COUNTRY SCENE DIE CUTS

INK BLENDED SUNSET BACKGROUND

  •  Trim a piece of white cardstock to 4.25″ x 11″ and score it down the center to form a top-folding A2-sized card base.
  •  Mask off the edges of the card front with masking paper or Post-It tape.  The masked area doesn’t have to be perfectly even…just make sure the unmasked area is at least a little bit larger than the window cut into the wood fence background a few steps ago.
  •  Lightly blend Odyssey, Sky, Lilac, and Rose Inks over the unmasked area with a blending brush.  Peel away the masking paper/tape to reveal a beautiful sunset background!

CARD ASSEMBLY

  •  Trim the die cuts so that they will fill the scene, but fit behind the frame without showing.
  •  Adhere the barn directly to the card front with tape runner.
  •  Adhere the grass die cut to the front of the picket fence with liquid glue.
  •  Pop the fence up on top of the scene using foam adhesive.

I hope you enjoyed this fun country scene card and thanks so much for stopping by today. Be sure to check out Rubbernecker Stamps on Instagram or visit their Facebook Fan Group for tons of inspiration!
