Hi friends! I’m so excited to share another new collection with you today from Spellbinders – the Just Wanted To Say Collection. With sweet birds, pretty florals, and beautiful sentiments, this collection is one that you’ll come back to year-round for all sorts of projects. I mixed all of the gorgeous components in the collection to create two bright cards perfect for sending a summery hello.
HELLO FRIEND BIRDS CARD
I loved both the Sweet Birdie and Little Chickadee Die Sets and thought they would look great together on a cheery hello card. The mini slimline format gave me a little more vertical room for branches and allowed me to create a meeting in the treetops for these cute friends.
- Die cut Raindrop Cardstock with the largest die from the Precision Layering Mini Slimline A Die Set, emboss it with the Optical Arches Embossing Folder, and mount it onto a top-folding white card base measuring 3.5″ x 6.5″ with foam adhesive.
- Die cut blue, white, and Onyx Cardstock using the Sweet Birdie Die Set. Add a little Rusty Hinge Distress Ink to the breast piece and assemble the bird with liquid glue.
- Die cut white, Graphite, and Onyx Cardstock using the Little Chickadee Die Set, add shading with Tea Dye and Pumice Stone Distress Inks, and assemble with liquid glue.
- Die cut Fern Cardstock using the sprig die and Rainforest Cardstock using the leaf die from the Leafy Sprig Die Set. Trim the lighter green leaves in half and adhere on top of the sprig die-cuts where you would expect highlights to be (on top in my card).
- Die cut Cosmic Sky and white cardstock using the Layered Mix & Matched Sentiments Die Set and adhere together with liquid glue.
- Apply Cobalt Hot Foil onto white cardstock using the Just Wanted To Say Glimmer Plate Set and the Glimmer Hot Foil System.
- Add the leafy sprigs to the card front with foam adhesive first, trimming off the overhanging parts with scissors.
- Adhere the birds and sentiment on top with more foam adhesive.
JUST WANTED TO SAY HI CARD
The Stitched Hi Die Set is such a fun one to embellish (or not!) in any way you like to create bold and fun cards. Here I left the die-cut unstitched and added colorful gems instead for a bright and cheery card for a friend.
- Die cut white and Onyx Cardstock using the Stitched Hi Die Set and adhere the layers together with liquid glue. Add Teal Mix Gems to the center of each stitchable ring design.
- Die cut Rainforest, Saffron, Beeswax, and Chamomile Cardstock using the Wreath Builder Die Set and assemble the separate sprigs with liquid glue.
- Stamp a sentiment from the Just Wanted To Say Sentiments Stamp Set onto Teal Topaz Cardstock using Versamark Ink, add white embossing powder, and melt with a heat tool. Cut the sentiment out using a paper trimmer or sentiment strip die.
- Trim a piece of patterned paper (Simple Stories Vintage Lemon Twist 6×8 Paper Pad – discontinued) to 4.125″ x 5.375″, mat with Onyx Cardstock, and adhere it to a top-folding A2-sized white card base with tape runner.
- Arrange the floral sprigs on the front of the card and adhere down with liquid glue, allowing the ends to pop up freely.
- Add the sentiments to the center of the card with foam adhesive.
