Happy Friday friends! I’m excited to be back today to share a couple of projects made with the new Metamorphosis Collection by Simon Hurley from Spellbinders. (Check out the entire February release here!) This collection contains beautiful butterflies, sentiments, and scene-building elements perfect for springtime and everyday cards! I created two colorful butterfly cards with the collection perfect for sending a happy hello.
BUTTERFLY CONGRATS CARD
The Stained Glass Window Die Set creates a beautiful background element that nearly fills an entire A2-sized card front. I decided to use it almost like a trellis and cut it out of both white and Mirror Gold Cardstock (offset a bit for a golden shadow layer) before adhering it on top of a card base onto which I had blended Mowed Lawn, Peacock Feathers, and Prize Ribbon Distress Oxide Ink.
That bold flower was cut from several shades of yellow, green, and gold cardstock using the In Bloom Die Set (shading was added around the edges with Distress Inks). After cutting a piece of white cardstock using one of the butterfly shadow layers from the Brilliant Butterflies Die Set, I blended Candied Apple, Ripe Persimmon, and Carved Pumpkin Distress Oxide Ink over it and added the detail layer on top cut from Onyx and Mirror Gold Cardstock. To finish the card off, I foiled a sentiment in Gold Hot Foil using the Sentiments For Everyday Glimmer Plate Set.
BUTTERFLY WINDOW HELLO CARD
For a softer look, I started this card by cutting the detail layer of one of the butterflies from the Brilliant Butterflies Die Set out of cardstock that I had blended Wilted Violet, Picked Raspberry, and Kitsch Flamingo Distress Oxide Ink onto and adhered it to a shadow layer cut from vellum. This time I cut the sideview flower from the In Bloom Die Set out of Purple Mist, Lilac Blossom, and Royal Amethyst Cardstock and foiled a sentiment from the Be Bold Glimmer Sentiments Set using Bright Pink Hot Foil.
To create the background, I die cut the center of a piece of white cardstock using one of the dies from the Essential Floral Reflection Die Set and embossed it with the Flower Frenzy 3D Embossing Folder. After inking an A2-sized white card base with Salty Ocean and Tumbled Glass Distress Oxide Inks, I added a few splatters and adhered the embossed window panel on top with foam adhesive before popping the rest of the elements up around the window with more foam adhesive.
