Propagation Garden Collection by Annie Williams

Hello crafty friends!  I am beyond excited to be back today to share a ton of projects made with my brand new collection from Spellbinders, the Propagation Garden Collection by Annie Williams.  (You can check out the rest of the April release here…there’s a lot of other great stuff too!)  It was an honor to be asked to collaborate again with such a wonderful company on this collection and I am so pleased with the final products.  I hope you love them too!

This collection is inspired by my career in molecular biology as well as a love for gardening and anything leafy and lively. Audrey Hepburn once said that “to plant a garden is to believe in tomorrow” and I wanted to convey that optimism and sense of wonderment about growth and new beginnings in this collection.

There are seven products in this collection – three die sets, a BetterPress plate set, a stamp and die set, an embossing folder, and a wax seal stamp. Each product was carefully designed to be versatile while also working with all of the other sets in the collection. I hope you’ll be inspired to create all kinds of beautiful and blooming projects!

PROPAGATION GARDEN ENCOURAGEMENT CARD

The Propagation Garden Stamps & Die Bundle contains the four products that kind of form the core of the collection – Propagated Plants Die Set, Laboratory Glassware Die Set, Propagation Garden Frames Die Set, and the Propagation Garden Sentiments Stamp & Die Set.  This fun encouragement card uses all of the items in the bundle.  I started by assembling the monstera and pothos plants from the Propagated Plants Die Set and placed them inside of the round-bottom and conical flasks from the Laboratory Glassware Die Set.

The flasks are hanging from the sawhorse-style frame from the Propagation Garden Frames Die Set…I love how three-dimensional this frame looks!  To create the background, I inked a piece of white cardstock with Blueprint Sketch, Peacock Feathers, and Salvaged Patina Distress Ink before adding a little splatter with the same inks as well as soon Splatter White Opaque Watercolor.  After adhering the propagation garden on top of the card front, I added a beautiful sentiment from the Propagation Garden Sentiments Stamp & Die Set.

RECTANGULAR FRAME PROPAGATION GARDEN

The Propagation Garden Frames Die Set also allows you to create a rectangular style of frame for your propagation garden.  Here I placed the peperomia and string of pearls plants from the Propagated Plants Die Set inside of the glass jar and test tube from the Laboratory Glassware Die Set before adding them to the rectangular frame for a different look.

The background was created by embossing pink cardstock with the Leafy Helix Embossing Folder before inking around the edges with Picked Raspberry Distress Ink.  Once the frame was adhered to the card, I embossed another sentiment from the Propagation Garden Sentiments Stamp & Die Set in gold and added it to the top corner.

DECONSTRUCTED BOUQUET CARD

And don’t forget to use your long-stem florals in your propagation gardens!  Here I took a few daisies from Simon Hurley’s Floral Stems Die Set and added them to some test tubes from the Laboratory Glassware Die Set.

They work great in the rectangular frame from the Propagation Garden Frames Die Set!  A simple sentiment stamped using the Propagation Garden Sentiments Stamp & Die Set and then cut out with the coordinating die finishes off this card well.  (Background – Leafy Helix Embossing Folder)

HANGING FLASKS THANK YOU CARD

Some propagation gardens don’t need a frame at all!  I assembled my monstera and pothos plants from the Propagated Plants Die Set and placed them both inside of round-bottom flasks from the Laboratory Glassware Die Set.  Instead of using a frame, I simply strung them up with some metallic thread for a hanging garden.

The background was created by trimming a piece of white cardstock to 3.25″ x 6.25″ and inking it with Peacock Feathers and Salvaged Patina Distress Ink before embossing it with the Leafy Helix Embossing Folder.  A sweet thank you sentiment from the Propagation Garden Sentiments Stamp & Die Set completes the card.

LAB POTION ENCOURAGEMENT CARD

The Laboratory Glassware Die Set works great on its own too to create all kinds of cards for scientists or science-enthusiasts.  Here I just assembled three of the containers and stamped the liquid inside with the bubbles from the Propagation Garden Sentiments Stamp & Die Set for a fun encouragement card.

I placed the jars on top of a shelf made with one side of the rectangular Propagation Garden Frame (these dies make a great woodgrain picture frame as well!) and added a pretty sentiment from the stamp set above them.  To add a little more interest, I snipped apart an assembled string of pearls plant and added the pieces to the the background.

LAB BENCH BIRTHDAY CARD

Similarly, I created three more bubbling containers for this mini slimline birthday card perfect for us science geeks!  The shelf and clamp holding the two flasks are just pieces of the frames from the Propagation Garden Frames Die Set.

I included some general sentiments in the Propagation Garden Sentiments Stamp & Die Set for this exact reason…if you know someone who is interested in science or gardening, you can make custom birthday, thank you, or thinking of you cards for them!

LUCKY BAMBOO CARD

The lucky bamboo in the Propagated Plants Die Set is one of my favorites.  Here I placed a few stalks inside of the glass jar from the Laboratory Glassware Die Set and added “gravel” at the bottom created with the pearls from the string of pearls dies.

To ground this pretty jar, I masked off a section of my white cardstock panel and inked it with Peacock Feathers Distress Ink before embossing it with the Leafy Helix Embossing Folder.  After popping the jar up on top of the card front with foam adhesive, I added a tiny label to the jar and a sentiment to the corner stamped with the Propagation Garden Sentiments Stamp & Die Set.

BE-LEAF IN YOURSELF CARD

In addition the core die and stamp sets in the collection, we designed a couple of additional products that work great alongside those sets or perfectly fine on their own.  I’ve shown you the Leafy Helix Embossing Folder several times already, but here is the Tropical Leaves BetterPress Plate & Die Set.  I pressed the leaves in black BetterPress ink onto cotton cardstock before coloring them with water-based markers and cutting them out with the included dies.

The cluster of leaves sits on top of some shapes cut with the Essential Hexi-Gems Die Set as well as a background panel embossed with the Leafy Helix Embossing Folder.  The finishing touch is a sentiment embossed in gold using the Propagation Garden Sentiments Stamp & Die Set.

FOILED LEAVES BORDER CARD

Don’t forget you can foil with your BetterPress plates as well!  I applied Gold Hot Foil to white cardstock using the Tropical Leaves Press Plate & Die Set and my Glimmer Hot Foil System.  Once foiled, I colored all of the leaves with Copic markers and cut them out with the coordinating dies.

I embossed one of my favorites sentiments from the Propagation Garden Sentiments Stamp & Die Set onto deep purple cardstock in gold and adhered the panel to a top-folding A2-sized white card base.  Then I surrounded the sentiment with my colored leaves and trimmed off any overhanging bits with scissors.

Here is a similar style of card with a different sentiment from the set and little more gilded leafy goodness!

SIMPLE HELLO WAX SEAL CARD

The last product from the collection is the Oval Hello Wax Seal Stamp.  I made tons of these seals in different colors because the design is simple and presses the melted wax so effortlessly.  Here I mixed blue, teal, and gold wax beads to create a marbled seal…I highlighted the “hello” with gold metallic marker.

The background was inked with Blueprint Sketch, Peacock Feathers, and Salvaged Patina Distress Ink before being embossed with the Leafy Helix Embossing Folder.  After wrapping some gold twine around the panel, I adhered the wax seal over top of some leafy sprigs foiled in gold and green using the Tropical Leaves Press Plate & Die Set.

WAX SEAL THINKING OF YOU CARD

And here I’ve created a simpler seal by pressing some Copper Wax Beads with the Oval Hello Wax Seal Stamp before highlighting the raised areas with a gold metallic pen.  I placed my seal on a shelf made with one of the dies from the Propagation Garden Frames Die Set next to a beaker holding a peperomia plant.

I debossed some Alabaster Cardstock using the Leafy Helix Embossing Folder for the background.  To finish the card off, I added a sentiment stamped in brown ink using the Propagation Garden Sentiments Stamp & Die Set.

I hope you enjoyed this look at my brand new collection from Spellbinders – Propagation Garden Collection by Annie Williams.  If you like what you’ve seen, you can also grab the core die and stamps from the collection at a great bundle price here.  As always, thanks so much for stopping by and I would love to hear what you think!
