If you’ve taken a look around my blog lately, you may have noticed I’m dying for a vacation! When I received my April My Monthly Hero Kit, this awesome die reminded me so much of the beautiful photos I’ve seen of Santorini, I decided to take myself on a trip to the island at sunset.
I started by creating a top-folding A2 cardbase out of some Neenah Classic Crest Solar White Cardstock. Using post-it tape, I masked off a tiny border along the edges and between the sky and sea. After blending Salty Ocean and Blueprint Sketch Distress Oxide Inks with a blending tool to create the ocean, I moved my post-it tape and blended Antique Linen, Tattered Rose, Shaded Lilac and Blueprint Sketch Distress Oxide Inks to create my sky at sunset. Then I stamped birds from the kit using Versafine Onyx Black Ink, and waves from the Color Layering Waves set using water.
Next, I die cut a piece of Neenah Classic Crest Solar White Cardstock with the building die from the kit about a third of the way down the panel. I backed the windows of the buildings with some scraps of blue cardstock, then inked the cupolas with Salty Ocean and Blueprint Sketch inks. After stamping a sentiment from the kit in Versafine Onyx Black Ink, I tied a simple knot of black twine around the panel.
A liberal amount of foam tape pops the panel up on top of my card base for just a little dimension on this clean and simple card.
