Today I wanted to share a fun springtime shaker card perfect for Mother’s Day or just to say hello. Something about this beautiful mini shaker window from Clear Scraps reminded me of an English garden, so I decided to surround it with tons of flowers and leafy vines to create a little secret garden for my recipient.
I started by embossing some white cardstock with a stone pattern embossing folder (texture enhance by lightly inking with grey ink) to create the wall of a house for my window. Then I die cut two layers of greenery border (Crafter’s Companion), one in light green and one in dark green, and popped them up around the edges with foam tape. I finished the edges off with tons of tiny shaped flowers (The Stamp Doctor).
Before assembling the window shaker, I first painted the top layer with white pearl acrylic paint and added some blue patterned paper that resembled wallpaper to the back layer. After stacking two window chip forms on the chip back (adhering each layer with glue), I filled each section with some dreamy pink and clear iridescent sequins. So that the cat silhouette would remain in front of the sequins, I added the black die-cut on top of the two chip form layers before adhering the acrylic divider, and finally the white pearl layer.
The shaker element is fairly thick, so I used heavy-duty double-sided tape to adhere it to the front of my card. A die cut window box (Darice) stamped with a sweet sentiment (SSS) and filled with even more flowers seemed like a necessary touch to finish off this already pretty ornate card.
