Happy May Day friends! It’s reveal day for the May Club Kits from Spellbinders and I think you are going to love the beautiful and versatile designs this month. Today I’m sharing two bright spring cards made with both the Small Die of the Month and Clear Stamp of the Month Kits because they coordinate so beautifully.
This month’s Small Die of the Month Kit, “Arched A2 & Slimline Card Creator“, is a large set that contains 5 dies that can be used to cut beautiful floral backgrounds for both A2- and slimline-sized cards depending on the arrangement. For my first card, I used the inside arch and circle dies to cut both Waterfall and Mirror Silver Cardstock twice, then layered them together with liquid glue leaving a hint of silver shadow.
After adhering the background die-cuts to a side-folding white card base measuring 3.5″ x 8.5″ with liquid glue, I then cut several different types of flowers using both the Simply Perfect Layered Blooms Die Set and the Mini Blooms & Sprigs Die set (Beeswax, Persimmon, Dahlia, Wild Berry, Fern, and Rainforest cardstock). I also stamped a sentiment from this month’s Clear Stamp of the Month Kit (see below) on some white cardstock with Versamark ink and embossed it in silver.
I covered up the seam between the two background die-cuts with the sentiment, popped up with some foam adhesive, and then arranged the flowers across the card. For a little extra shine, I added a few Crystal Mix Gems to the flower centers and then rounded all four corners of my card base with a ½” Corner Chomper.
My next card mixes up elements from the Small Die and Clear Stamp of the Month Kits as well, but on an A2-sized card. I thought the floral border stamps in this month’s kit would work great as wisteria hanging from the arch in the other kit for a simple and unique wedding card.
After trimming a piece of white cardstock to 4.25″ x 5.5″, I traced the bottom border of the arch die from the Small Die of the Month Kit onto masking paper and cut it out. Once the arch was masked off on my panel, I stamped the floral borders from the “Borders & Sentiments” stamp set in Versamark ink to look like they were hanging from the arch before embossing them in gold. I also added a sentiment from the stamp set, and then blended Salvaged Patina, Mermaid Lagoon, and Blueprint Sketch Distress Oxide Inks over the whole panel with a blending tool.
I lightly added water to some of the flowers and leaves in the stamped images to allow the ink to “oxidize” and add a little contrast. Then I cut the arch and base segment from white and Mirror Gold Cardstock using the Small Die of the Month Kit and layered them up with liquid glue. I repeated this process using the cake from the Celebration Scene Die Set (trimming the base of the cake off with scissors).
