Some die-cuts are so cute, you just want to keep the rest of the card simple. This little truck from the Truckin Through the Seasons die set is definitely one of those…especially with all of the new accessory die sets that Spellbinders released as part of their kit club offerings this month! I shared a couple of cards earlier on using the Large Die of the Month Kit on its own and you can certainly use the Small Die of the Month kit on its own as well. But…I couldn’t wait to use it with some of the other sets it coordinates with and created this card perfect for a springtime hello or even Valentine’s Day.
The April 2020 Small Die of the Month kit is called Special Celebrations and has sentiments and dies that will help you create wedding, anniversary, engagement, and even Christmas cards. I used the heart balloons and spelled out “just” in Shimmery White and Vista cardstock. Then I tied a single strand of metallic silver embroidery floss to each balloon.
To keep my card light and airy, I used the Trucking Through the Seasons die set with Shimmery White, Pink, and Black cardstock to build a classy-looking white truck. Then I accented it with Pink Glitter tail lights and Silver Foil bumpers and side mirrors. You can tuck something in the bed of the truck, but I decided just to add a “Love Ya” to the back cut using the Even More Sentiments die set and Shimmery Silver Cardstock.
Note: Die sets with tiny pieces like this can look a little intimidating to assemble, but I always think the end result is worth the trouble. Plus, I swear by my Zig Two-Way Fine Point Glue Pen for adhering tiny pieces!
To assemble, I matted a piece of pink gingham paper from the Good Life Prints Paper Pack with Shimmery White Cardstock and adhered it to a top-folding A2-sized white card base using tape runner. Then I popped the truck and balloons up on top of the card front with foam adhesive and tied the end of the balloon strings to the roof of the truck.
