The first time I set eyes on this adorable scooter die in the Rubbernecker shop, I pictured it leaning next to an old stone wall in some faraway European city. And since the only traveling I’ll be doing for a while is in my mind, I decided to take that inspiration and do my best to recreate the scene I was imagining in this fun springtime thank you card.
COBBLESTONE BACKGROUND
- Trim a piece of white cardstock to 4.125″ x 5.375″.
- Place the Cobblestone Background stamp face up on your work surface, ink it up completely with Chill Ink (Color Fuse Set #12), and press the white cardstock down on top, lightly rubbing over the entire surface with one hand while holding the panel in place with the other.
- For a little dimension, lightly blend more Chill Ink around the edges of the panel using a blending brush.
SCOOTER ASSEMBLY
- Die cut aqua pearl, black pearl, and silver foil cardstock using the Scooter Die. (The head light and tail light were cut out of yellow pearl and red pearl cardstock.)
- Adhere the main body and silver details of the scooter together as shown using liquid glue. (I love the Zig Two-Way Fine Tip Glue Pen for adhering tiny die cut pieces like this!)
- Pop the two assembled wheel cover pieces up on top of the main body using foam adhesive.
FLOWERING VINES
- Die cut light and dark green pearl cardstock with the Leaves and Greenery Die. You only need the dangling greenery for this project, so save all of the other stems for future cards!
- Die cut yellow, pink, and purple pearl cardstock with the Small Flowers #3 Die.
- Shape different sizes of each color flower with a ball stylus. Starting on the back side of the die-cut, shape each petal of the flower with a small circular motion. Then flip the die-cut over to the front and press in the center to cup the petals upward.
SENTIMENT
- Stamp the Thanks sentiment from the Best Friends Etc. Stamp Set onto a scrap of black pearl cardstock in Versamark Ink.
- Add white embossing powder and melt it with a heat tool.
- Die cut the greeting out using the smallest die from the Inside Scallop Nested Dies and trim off the right side with a paper trimmer or scissors.
CARD ASSEMBLY
- Adhere the background panel to a top-folding A2-sized white card base using foam adhesive.
- Pop the scooter die-cut and sentiment up on top of the card front using foam adhesive.
- Arrange the leafy vines across the top of the card front, alternating light and dark green vines for a little added interest, and adhere them in place with liquid glue. Don’t add glue to some of the leaves so that you can pop them up off the page for more dimension.
- Add flowers to the vines with strong liquid glue and finish the centers off with a drop of Vanilla Milkshake Vintage Drops.
