Stampendous Spring Collection from Spellbinders

Hello again friends!  I’m thrilled to be back today to share a couple of projects made with the brand new Stampendous Spring Collection from Spellbinders.  (Check out the entire March release here!)  I have loved Stampendous for many years and was so excited to hear that they’ll be carrying Fran’s designs in the Spellbinders shop now!  This collection contains beautiful stamps and gorgeous background pages perfect for springtime projects and I created three bright cards for a variety of occasions.

BRIGHT SPRING FRIENDSHIP CARD

The images in the Sweet Song Stamp Set are so beautiful that I had to start with this set first.  I stamped the floral spray and birds onto white cardstock using black alcohol-friendly ink, colored them in with my Copic markers, and fussycut them out with a pair of scissors.  The panel behind them was cut from white cardstock using the Essential Four Petal Labels Die Set and stamped with a tiny greeting from the I’m Here For You Sentiments Stamp & Die Set.

To create the background, I trimmed a piece of Dune Cardstock to 4″ x 5.25″, embossed it with the Flower Frenzy 3D Embossing Folder, matted it with Onyx Cardstock, and adhered it all to a top-folding A2-sized white card base.  To finish the card off, I simply popped the focal image up on top of the card front with foam adhesive.

BUTTERFLY FIELDS THANK YOU CARD

When I saw the Hello Butterfly Stamp Set, I knew right away I wanted to create a big field of daisies with lots of fluttering wings.  I started by cutting a piece of Bristol Smooth Cardstock using the largest die from the Precision Layering Mini Slimline A Die Set and stamping the flower image from the set all the way across the bottom of the panel using Versafine Clair Nocturne Ink.  (On a separate scrap of Bristol Smooth Cardstock, I stamped the butterflies as well.)

I colored the background of the daisy panel first using three shades of blue Zig Clean Color Real Brush Pens, blending from dark to light up the page.  Then I splattered LOTS of water droplets onto the coloring, let them sit a few seconds, and sopped them up with a paper towel…repeating this process until I had acheived the dreamy background I was going for.  I colored the daisies and butterflies with the same pens, cutting the butterflies out with a pair of scissors.

After matting the background with Mirror Gold Cardstock, I adhered it to a white card base measuring 3.5″ x 6.5″ using tape runner and popped the butterflies up on top with foam adhesive.  To finish off the card, I foiled a pretty sentiment in gold using the Mini Everyday Sentiments Glimmer Plate Set and popped it up as well.

HUMMINGBIRD HELLO CARD

Lastly, I loved the hummingbirds in the Hummingbird Day Stamp Set so much and couldn’t wait to color them like my favorite local species, so I stamped the images onto white cardstock and colored them both like Ruby-throated Hummingbirds using Copic markers.  I stamped and colored the flowers the same way, adding dots to the sky with my Colorless Blender pen for a little fun.

To create the frame, I cut white cardstock using both the Fluted Classic Rectangles and Fluted Classic Ovals Die Sets, trimmed a tiny bit off the edges with my paper trimmer, and placed the flower background panel behind it before matting the whole thing with Mirror Gold Cardstock.  I then cut the sentiment out of Mirror Gold and white cardstock using the Raining Hearts Die Set and popped it up on top of the card front with the hummingbirds using foam adhesive.
