Teacher Appreciation Lip Balm Box Tags

Looking for some quick and easy gifts for Teacher Appreciation Day (reminder – it’s on May 7th! 😉 )?  These lip balm box tags make the perfect little presents on their own or tied to a larger gift bag full of goodies.  For mass production, you can simply use the Lip Balm Box Die as it was intended, too…I’ll show you samples of each!

Start by trimming a piece of patterned paper to 2″ x 5″ and a piece of coordinating cardstock to 2.25″ x 5″ (here I’m using some older school-themed paper from my stash and Basis Black Cardstock).  Place the Circle Frames Tag Topper die along the very top edge of the patterned paper and run it through your die-cutting machine.  Then, adhere the patterned paper tag to the black cardstock, leaving an even matting edge around the three uncut sides as shown.

Trim the black cardstock around the top of the tag with scissors to leave a black border with a similar width to the rest of the tag.  Use a hole puncher to cut a hole through to the black mat layer as well, lining it up with the hole in the patterned paper.

If you are using patterned cardstock for the lip balm box, you will want to place the box die with the tabbed sides towards the top as shown…otherwise, the pattern will be upside-down when you’re finished (ask me how I know, lol)!  While you’re passing this through your die-cutting machine, you can also add one of the window dies in the center of the widest tabbed side as shown (Lip Balm Windows #1 have plain edges and Lip Balm Windows #2 have stitched edges, so there are tons of options!).

Once cut, the lip balm box will look like this.  You’ll need to remove the back panel from the box to create the tag.  Add strong double-sided adhesive to the top panel as shown, line this side up with the 3″ mark on your paper trimmer, and slice off the remainder of the box.

Burnish each of the score lines, fold and roll the die cut to create the box shape, and adhere it shut using the double-sided adhesive strip.  Adhere the completed box to the tag using liquid glue, add a die cut sentiment, and thread some coordinating baker’s twine through the hole to finish it off.

Want to decorate the lip balm with matching paper or add a label to some homemade balm?  The Lip Balm Box Die set includes this fun tube wrapper die!

If you were planning to give a larger present, these little tags make the perfect decorative accent on an otherwise plain gift bag!

Using the box die as it was intended is perfect for mass producing a bunch of smaller gifts (think bus drivers, classroom aides, etc.).  These can be cut in one pass through your die-cutting machine, assembled very quickly, and decorated using some of the included layering dies as shown.

I hope you enjoyed this fun gift idea for Teacher Appreciation Day and thanks so much for stopping by!  If you are interested in seeing more projects like this, please leave a comment below!

I loved your post so much I bought the dies so I could do it, too! So now you are an enabler, which is quite easy to do with me. Love the idea of lip balm for teacher gifts, as well as for others, too. Fantastic!
