Hello friends! I’m thrilled to be back today to share a couple of projects made with the brand new Bibi’s Hummingbirds Collection by Bibi Cameron from Spellbinders. (Check out the entire April release here…so much good stuff!) This collection contains gorgeous hummingbird and nature-inpired dies, stamps, and stencils perfect for springtime or anytime cards. I used some of the stamps and dies in the collection to create three bright and cheery cards to send to a friend.
FLORAL HUMMINGBIRDS CARD
The Delicate Floral Hummingbirds Die Set is a massive set of 15 dies that cuts a beautiful layered garden full of flowers, vines, and hummingbirds and covers an entire 5″ x 7″ card front. If A7 cards aren’t your thing, you can easily trim out a section of the design or use the hummingbird and flower images separately. I cut three of the vine background designs out of Fern Cardstock to stack up for dimension on top of a panel of Glacier Cardstock cut to 5″ x 7″ and inked around the edges with Salty Ocean Distress Ink.
The flowers and hummingbirds were cut from pink and teal cardstock and inked with Picked Raspberry, Wilted Violet, Peacock Feathers, and Uncharted Mariner Distress Inks using a sponge dauber for lots of soft shading and dimension. I added touches of Mirror Gold accents to the flowers to match the sentiment I embossed in gold using the Hummingbird Sentiments Stamp Set.
HUMMINGBIRD SHAPED CARD
Next I picked up the new Hummingbird Card Creator Die Set and decided to create a fun shaped card with it. The giant hummingbird you create with this set can also serve as a topper on a 5″ x 7″ card or can be trimmed down to fit partially on a standard A2-sized card. I used the body die in the set to create a white card base by aligning the top wing and tail slightly over the edge of a folded sheet of white cardstock and running the combination through my diecutting machine several times to cut through both layers.
Then I cut the body again out of Rainforest Cardstock and added layers cut from Lagoon, Poppy Field, and Onyx Cardstock. The floral details and bird layers were all inked with coordinating colors of Distress Ink before assembling. To finish the card off, I stamped a greeting from the Hummingbird Sentiments Stamp Set onto the inner belly layer in black ink and added some Gold Mix Gems to the flower centers. I love this super unique card!
HUMMINGBIRD FIELDS CARD
Lastly, I loved the sweet Hummingbird Build A Scene Stamp & Die Set and wanted to create a simple and pretty spring card with it. I started by trimming a piece of white cardstock to 4″ x 5.25″ and stamping the layers of grass and floral branches across the bottom in a variety of colored inks. I added a few tiny details to the flowers with my Copic markers for a little added interest, stamped a sentiment from the Hummingbird Sentiments Stamp Set in the top corner, and added a touch of Salty Ocean Distress Ink around the top edges to indicate sky.
After stamping the winged creatures from the Hummingbird Build A Scene Stamp Set onto white cardstock using black alcohol-friendly ink, I colored the images with Copic markers and cut them out with the coordinating dies. To finish off the card, I popped the critters up around the scene with foam adhesive and added a few Crystal Mix Gems around for a dreamy feel.
