Spellbinders Card Kit of the Month – July 2020

Nothing strikes fear in the heart of a clean and simple, bright and cheery cardmaker such as myself like the term “vintage”…but this month’s Card Kit of the Month from Spellbinders is my kind of vintage!  Tastefully designed in a somewhat brighter palette with accents of gold and full of tons of mini vintage nature art, the “Vintage Mementos” kit can really be used by any kind of cardmaker to easily make beautiful cards.

I created this quick card by adhering a piece of the patterned paper to one of the card bases provided in the kit and just arranging layers of some of the beautiful die-cut shapes.  For a little dimension, I popped some of the elements up and curled the butterfly wings as well.

In addition to the beautiful papers and die-cuts, you get a set of four dies for cutting the ornate frame and border seen in this card (as well as a coordinating die for one of the sentiments in the kit).  The double-sided gold cardstock included in the kit die cuts so perfectly, I’m seriously going to have to find a way to get some more!

I added the golden frame and border to a few more of the die-cut shapes in the kit and popped them up on top of another one of the gorgeous patterns in the paper pad (matted with gold and navy blue cardstock included as well) for this card.

The pack of journal cards included make for some great quick cards.  I added another set of die-cut golden border pieces to the back of this gorgeous little card (love that sentiment!) before popping it up on top of a sheet of patterned paper from the pad.

Adding a few more die-cut shapes around the card creates a much more special sentiment for this friend card (a little butterfly is covering up part of the banner to make the sentiment grammatically-correct, wink wink).

For this last card, I wanted to try to make something a little more masculine, so I kept it simple and stuck to a limited color palette.  To start, I stamped a feather pattern all over a piece of the kraft cardstock in subtle gold ink using one of the stamps from the set included.  (If you want the background to be a little more bold, use gold embossing powder instead!)

Then I just added a navy blue mat and a small grouping of die-cut shapes in the lower right corner.  I love how versatile the different elements in this kit are…you really can find a way to inject your own style into the kit!
